Summary:
The Scale Operator is responsible for correctly and proficiently monitoring and recording scrap volumes entering the facility on the inbound scale. This position will be trained in general knowledge of metal commodities. The physical environment requires this position to be both indoors and outdoors. This position will be trained to weigh and pay customers. This position is customer-focused and fast-paced. Performs other tasks as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

• Use computer systems (ERP) to complete daily tasks.
  • Scaling trucks/customers in and out.
  • Create documents for outbound shipments.
  • Collect inspection ticket information and input data.
  • Look up pricing to give prices over the phone.
• Count/order cash when necessary.
• Communicate with employees in the yard over incoming/outgoing material and customers.
• Identify incoming and outgoing material - visual inspection.
• Guide drivers to offload material at the appropriate location in the yard.
• Answer incoming calls and emails pertaining to daily business to the best of your ability.
  • Forward calls to management when necessary.
• Purchase vehicles from established methods and schedule pickup through our shared spreadsheet.
• Log all dispatching information into the established spreadsheet.
• Ensure a timely shipment of products for customers is consistently achieved.
• Ensure Quality, Safety and Environmental Standards are met and achieved for production, customers and employees.
• Assist in the Cash4Cars car buying program when needed. 
• Cover the scale at Harry’s Metals when needed. 
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Customer Service Experience.
• Positive attitude, polite.
• Willing to inspect material outside.
• Physical Demands: Lifting scrap material, Standing for periods of time, etc.
• General knowledge of using an ERP system is preferred.
• Have proficient computer skills that include the use of software systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, etc. 
• Work well under pressure.

Hours:

• Monday through Friday 7:00am - 4:30pm, Saturdays and overtime as scheduled.
