Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Network Specialist to join our IT team. This role is primarily responsible for the day-to-day administration, support, and ongoing maintenance of our IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on networking, switches, servers, and technical support. The Network Specialist will also manage server and storage environments, as well as Windows-based systems. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver with broad technical expertise and a strong customer-focused mindset.

Work Environment

• The role requires In-Office presence at the Arlington Headquarters in Texas. 

Responsibilities

Server & Virtualization Management

• Support the maintenance, planning, and monitoring of a hyperconverged virtual environment. Apply virtualization best practices.

System Monitoring & Uptime

• Proactively monitor system health, uptime, and network reliability using standard tools. Ensure timely issue resolution.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

• Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining DR and BCP plans for critical infrastructure.

End-User Support & Endpoint Protection

• Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network issues. Help manage endpoint protection and software deployment tools.

Technical Research & Planning

• Evaluate and recommend technologies that align with business needs. Support system upgrades and performance optimization.

Issue Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and resolve system and application issues using logs and diagnostic tools.

System Documentation

• Maintain up-to-date documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.

Firewall Management

• Manage Barracuda firewall settings and security protocols to protect the network.

Microsoft Intune

• Configure and manage devices and applications for compliance and security.

PowerShell Scripting

• Create and run PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.

Cisco Switches & VLANs

• Install and configure Cisco switches. Troubleshoot VLAN issues to ensure performance and proper segmentation.

Wireless & DHCP Support

• Test and resolve wireless network issues. Manage DHCP configurations for proper IP assignment.

Virtual Machine Management

• Create and maintain virtual machines using Azure and Hyper-V.

AWS Network Design

• Design and configure AWS virtual networks and subnets to support cloud infrastructure.

Security Practices

• Implement fundamental IT security protocols to safeguard systems and data.

TLS Certificate Management

• Install and manage TLS certificates to ensure secure network communications.

Technical Knowledge

• Apply expertise in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, PowerShell, AWS, Hyper-V, and SQL databases.

Continuous Learning

• Stay current with emerging technologies, best practices, and industry standards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365.
• Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Practical experience with AWS services, focused on high availability, security, and reliability.
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or administration, with strong knowledge of operating systems, networking, and storage.
• Proficient with Azure Active Directory and Entra ID.
• Experience managing mobile device management (MDM) tools, such as Microsoft Intune.
• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, ExaGrid).
• Ability to support the transition of systems into operations, ensuring stable and reliable performance from deployment onward.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
