Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate coding of medical records, facilitating efficient billing processes, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to work collaboratively within a medical office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately code patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Review and analyze medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records.
  • Process medical billing claims in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices.
  • Assist in the management of medical collections by ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding claims.
  • Provide support in training staff on proper coding practices and medical terminology.

Experience

  • Proven experience in medical coding within a family practice setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, billing systems, and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Knowledge of medical collections processes and compliance regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
