The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in developing and improving precision-machined components and assemblies for the Aerospace, Defense, and Space sectors. This position focuses on ensuring manufacturability, process capability, and continuous improvement across production operations while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Act as a core member of the engineering team, contributing to New Product Introduction (NPI) with a focus on manufacturability and future process improvements.
Ensure all processes, components, and systems meet Aerospace, Defense, and Space customer requirements and specifications.
Review and interpret product design data including 2D drawings, GD&T, 3D models, and other product specifications to determine the most effective machining and production processes.
Select appropriate tooling and fixturing , assist in their design, and participate in setup component fabrication.
Deliver measurable cost savings using lean manufacturing tools to improve efficiency, throughput, and process flow.
Recommend and specify capital equipment upgrades and automation solutions to improve manual or semi-automated processes.
Provide technical support to the shop floor, troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues as they arise.
Support preventive maintenance programs and other process-related systems.
Lead cross-functional teams in conducting 8D Root Cause Analysis and implementing corrective actions to address non-conformances.
Perform other related engineering duties as assigned.
35 years of recent experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in a machine shop or machining environment supporting Aerospace, Defense, or Space programs.
Hands-on machining background prior experience as a CNC Machinist is strongly preferred.
Experience with Mazak and Matsuura milling/mill-turn machines highly desirable.
Familiarity with the manufacture of blades, vanes, and precision components is an asset.
Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
Strong knowledge and practical use of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, depth gages, indicators, etc.).
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, models, and GD&T specifications for Aerospace, Defense, and Space components.
Certified or trained in Lean Manufacturing with demonstrated project success and quantifiable improvement results.
Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and document improvement initiatives.
Formal training in 8D problem-solving and internal auditing preferred.
Proficiency in SolidWorks for conceptual work cell or plant layout design (preferred but not required).
