Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, driven Proposal Writer to own the development and submission of high-quality proposals for government and commercial opportunities. This role requires exceptional writing and editing skills, strong collaboration with sales and engineering teams, and the ability to manage the proposal process from start to finish—including compliance, formatting, and timely submission through government portals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end proposal process, from kickoff to submission, ensuring alignment with RFP requirements and deadlines.
• Write, edit, and proofread proposal content to create compelling, compliant, and persuasive responses.
• Collaborate closely with Sales to translate customer needs into winning proposal strategies.
• Partner with Engineering to accurately capture technical solutions and integrate them into clear, accessible content.
• Manage proposal schedules, assignments, and internal reviews to deliver polished, error-free submissions.
• Coordinate submission through government portals and ensure compliance with all technical requirements.
• Maintain and update proposal templates, boilerplate language, and content libraries for efficiency and consistency.
• Drive continuous improvement of the proposal process, ensuring efficiency and repeatable success.

Basic Requirements

• Love for writing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, English, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in proposal management, technical writing, or related field.
• Proven ability to write, edit, and format professional documents under tight deadlines.
• Strong collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience submitting proposals through government portals (e.g., SAM.gov, state/local systems).
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Work authorization in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).
• Ability to work in-person full-time from Birdstop’s office in Detroit, Michigan.

Preferred Requirements

• Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and energized by working in a fast-paced startup.
• Experience working with aerospace or manufacturing fields.

Pay: $76,228.05 - $84,941.31 per year
