Job Description



The  University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center , a member of the  University of Maryland Medical System , is seeking a  Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or  Physician Assistant  to join the NICU team in Towson, Maryland. This position is eligible for a $15,000 sign-on/retention bonus. 

  • This position will focus on providing the highest quality care to high-risk infants in a Level III B NICU
  • Responsibilities include comprehensive H&P, management and treatment of at-risk newborns, delivery room attendance and infant stabilization
  • Daily rounds with multidisciplinary team, including registered dietitian, NICU pharmacist, social work/case management, respiratory therapist 
  • Providing care for premature and high-risk infants, including HFOV
  • Consulting services with Level 4 NICU and specialty services at University of Maryland Medical Center
  • Required to work rotating days/nights, holidays and weekends to ensure 24/7 unit coverage.
  • Flexible scheduling; The ideal candidate will be willing to work rotating day and night 12 hr shifts
  • $2500 per year of CE money (prorated by FTE)

  • NICU overview: 18 beds open bay unit, moving to New 16 bed semiprivate room NICU opening in 2026
  • Both experienced and newly graduated NNPs encouraged to apply!
  • The successful candidate will have completed an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program and will have, or be eligible for, a Maryland NNP license.
  • Physician Assistant candidates must have 1-2 years of NICU experience to be considered

Education

  • Master’s Degree (Required)
  • Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Certification / Licensure / Registration
