Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Branch Chief, the Tire Enforcement Section Manager is responsible for implementing CalRecycle's waste tire inspection, enforcement, and hauler registration programs. The Section Manager shall oversee first line supervisors to ensure that staff apply principles of scientific research, chemical, biological and environmental sciences and integrated waste management, and knowledge of environmental characteristics of waste and recycled materials when reviewing and assessing technical documents, monitoring records, and developing policies. The Section Manager will oversee the evaluation of environmental monitoring data and ensure sound conclusions have been made regarding compliance with standards. Duties include enforcement of unpermitted waste tire facilities, coordinating with local government tire enforcement agencies, coordinating local prosecutions with the Attorney General's office and district attorneys, and testifying at hearings. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of State policy and programs and will maintain effective multidisciplinary relationships in the accomplishment of CalRecycle program
