About Multifamily MEP, Inc.
Multifamily MEP, Inc. is a next-generation Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing platform built to revolutionize the multifamily construction industry. Purpose-built for speed, precision, and scale, we combine integrated engineering, preconstruction, field execution, and ongoing service—all powered by AI, BIM, and robotics. We're not just improving MEP—we're rebuilding it from the ground up. From standardizing design to automating execution, we're driving radical efficiency and ownership alignment through field technology, software, and employee equity. With 11 offices planned, $1B+ in project volume, and a proprietary robotics roadmap already in development, we're looking for a Chief Technology Officer to lead the charge.
Role Overview
The CTO will define and drive the technology vision, architecture, and execution roadmap that powers every layer of Multifamily MEP—from BIM coordination and field robotics to AI-enhanced scheduling and autonomous jobsite workflows. You will report to the CEO and work closely with the Director of Robotics & Field Technology, VP of Engineering, and field operations leaders to integrate software, hardware, and real-world field feedback into our tech stack. This is a rare opportunity to build a scalable field-tech platform from scratch—at the intersection of deeptech, real estate, and construction.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy
- Architect the long-term roadmap for software, AI, robotics, and BIM integration across the platform.
- Build a cohesive tech vision that enhances productivity, accuracy, and margin at every project phase.
- Lead cross-functional alignment between engineering, field operations and product development.
Product & Platform Development
- Develop or oversee solutions in robotics, jobsite automation and construction sequencing.
- Integrate AI into scheduling, material logistics, project tracking and field coordination.
- Build or partner to deliver software systems for project operations, workforce deployment and BIM coordination.
BIM & Field-Tech Infrastructure
- Ensure field-ready integration of BIM models, layout automation and robotic workflows.
- Work with centralized BIM teams to improve constructability across trades.
- Collaborate on edge-computing or mobile-app frameworks for on-site decision-making.
Data & Analytics
- Build systems to capture, analyze and act on project-level data (schedule adherence, install velocity, etc.).
- Leverage data to continuously optimize field execution, asset selection and trade sequencing.
Team Building & Leadership
- Hire and lead an integrated team of software engineers, robotics specialists and product managers.
- Create a high-performance, fast-iteration, outcomes-driven tech culture within a construction environment.
- Evangelize field-aligned innovation that serves the needs of real people doing real work on real jobsites.
Who You Are
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Construction Technology or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of technical leadership experience (CTO, VP Engineering, or equivalent).
- Proven experience building platforms that blend physical operations with software or robotics.
- Deep understanding of BIM workflows, jobsite tech, automation or construction tech.
- Experience integrating hardware and software in real-world field applications.
- Strong systems thinker with product ownership mindset.
- Excited to build from zero-to-one in a high-growth, founder-led environment.
Preferred
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Systems Engineering, Construction Management Technology or a dual-degree combining Engineering and Business).
- Experience with field robotics, construction automation or AI-enhanced operations.
- Background in mechanical systems, low voltage or building automation.
- Familiarity with trade-specific construction workflows (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
- Startup, construction tech or VC-backed experience.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary + profit share.
- Employee equity participation.
- Full autonomy to build and lead the technology team.
- Remote flexibility with field team travel as needed.
- Culture of shared ownership, speed, and long-term alignment.
