Job Description

Bartender (Opening Team)

Location: St. Petersburg, FL

Type: Part Time / Full Time

Compensation: $11/hour + tips

Welcome to St. Pete Athletic.

We’re not just launching a club—we’re building a community, a standard, and a vibe. Think urban country club. St. Pete Athletic is where sport, hospitality, and social energy collide. With 14 pickleball courts, 2 padel courts, dedicated table tennis spaces, a full-service restaurant and bar, and amenities ranging from coworking to wellness to a garden oasis—it’s a place to play, connect, and belong.

But our real secret? Hospitality. The kind you feel, not just see. We believe in creating moments that surprise and delight. And we’re looking for Bartenders who live and breathe that philosophy.

The Opportunity

As a Bartender at St. Pete Athletic, you’re both an artisan and an ambassador. You’ll craft signature cocktails, curate elevated beverage experiences, and infuse every interaction with warmth, charm, and professionalism.

Your role bridges the vibrant energy of the courts, the elegance of our dining venues, and the excitement of exclusive events—delivering hospitality that is as seamless as it is memorable. This is a role for someone who thrives on creativity, precision, and connection in equal measure.

Key Responsibilities

Luxury Guest Engagement

  • Welcome members and guests with eye contact, a genuine smile, and personalized attention.
  • Read both verbal and non-verbal cues to anticipate guest needs.
  • Learn and recall guest names, preferences, and rituals for highly personalized service.
  • Create “surprise and delight” moments—whether through unique recommendations or small gestures.
  • Recognize VIPs and first-time guests, fostering lasting relationships.
  • Resolve guest concerns with empathy and urgency, using service recovery techniques to preserve loyalty.

Craft & Beverage Expertise

  • Prepare and serve craft and classic cocktails, wine, beer, coffee drinks, and non-alcoholic options with precision and consistency.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of spirits, seasonal ingredients, and beverage trends to inspire guest choices.
  • Confidently guide guests through cocktail menus, rare spirits, and seasonal pairings.
  • Anticipate needs—refills, garnishes, or accompaniments—without prompting.
  • Transition seamlessly between high-volume courtside service and intimate dining or lounge settings.
  • Exhibit proper cocktail techniques including shaking, stirring, pouring, and throwing.

Operational Readiness

  • Uphold meticulous cleanliness and organization of bar stations, glassware, and storage areas.
  • Restock and replenish supplies proactively to maintain readiness during peak service.
  • Support private event service, including batching, tray passing, setup, and breakdown.
  • Perform opening and closing duties including stock checks, side work, and reporting discrepancies.

Sales & Performance

  • Thoughtfully upsell seasonal cocktails, wine pairings, and premium spirits.
  • Contribute to revenue targets by maintaining high guest satisfaction and average check values.
  • Collaborate with culinary and service teams to design bespoke pairings for dining, events, and courtside experiences.

Collaboration & Training

  • Communicate effectively with bartenders, servers, culinary, and guest service teams to ensure smooth execution.
  • Utilize Square and Podplay systems for efficient service and personalization.
  • Support and mentor new bar team members to maintain consistency in technique, hospitality, and standards.
  • Attend pre-shift briefings to review specials, VIP guests, and event programming.

Standards & Safety

  • Follow all health, safety, and alcohol-service regulations; escalate concerns as needed.
  • Maintain polished uniform, impeccable grooming, and professional demeanor throughout every shift.
  • Stay calm, courteous, and solution-focused in high-volume service environments.
  • Follow emergency protocols for guest safety and assist when necessary.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift at least 30 lbs, and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.

Who You Are

  • You’re passionate about the craft of mixology and hospitality.
  • You thrive in dynamic environments and bring calm energy to busy service.
  • You’re polished, approachable, and detail-focused.
  • You love creating memorable moments for guests and members.
  • You see every drink as an opportunity to connect and delight.

Our Promise to You

At St. Pete Athletic, we want this to be one of the best jobs you’ve ever had. That means:

  • A supportive team culture built on kindness, excellence, and joy.
  • Opportunities to learn across multiple areas of hospitality.
  • The chance to be part of a community that values connection as much as service.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $11/hour + tips.
  • Opportunity to enroll in company health insurance plans.
  • Flexible scheduling (part-time or full-time).
  • Opportunities for advancement in an opening club.
  • Employee discount for club membership (includes F&B and retail preferred pricing).

Sound Like You? Let’s Talk.

If you’re ready to join the opening team that’s setting a new bar for hospitality in Tampa Bay, we’d love to meet you.
